Campus Regina Public’s halls buzzed with cross-disciplinary creativity this spring as two seemingly opposite programs—Cosmetology and Welding—joined forces to film a dynamic showcase for Embher, the woman owned and operated company designing personal-protective equipment (PPE) that actually fits and flatters women in the trades.

As a part of the English component of Cosmetology, the students have been focusing on social media marketing and promotion as entrepreneurs.  They delivered runway-ready hair and makeup that could still stand up to sparks, grinders, and the studio’s heat as well as capturing behind the scenes, interviews, and B-roll footage.

We have six wonderful welding students who stepped out from behind their helmets to become the on camera talent, modeling their fashionable and practical new workwear. When they weren’t getting their photos taken, they were showing off their skills in oxy-aceteline and stick welding for the B-roll in our video.

Lastly this project would not be possible without the participation from Melanie Adams, Founder of Embher Inc. When pitched this collaborative idea, she was quick to respond and went above and beyond in supplying our students with appropriate PPE for the welding shop. Embher outfitted every participant with flame-resistant pants, shirts and vests. The donation meant no scrambling for sample sizes and ensured authenticity on screen: real welders in real PPE doing real work. Amid tariffs and international shipping, she jumped at the opportunity to work with our students. In return our students have given her content for her website and social media accounts. We were very lucky to have industry leaders work with our students.

As a school, we are very proud of our students who are entering the workforce in both welding and cosmetology. These two, seemingly opposite trades worked well together in producing a worthy assignment.

Thanks again to Melanie Adams for her contributions to our students.
